Kindness in Real Life: Lovey Blanket Brigade makes pediatric patients feel at home

Pediatric patients at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital are receiving little pieces of home, thanks to the work of the Lovey Blanket Brigade.

The group, which currently includes area residents Harriet Juli, Nancy Brand, Ruth Radin and Betsy Bowen, makes soft, colorful blankets for children who arrive at the hospital without a favorite blanket or stuffed animal to comfort them. The team has made 42 blankets to date, in a variety of patterns and textures.

In a release, Stephanie Henry, child life coordinator at the hospital, said she was thrilled with the blankets, as they will provide some comfort during stressful situations.

The Lovey Blanket Brigade is supported by donations and volunteers to make the blankets. For more information, call Juli at (860) 442-8951.
