Preston budget town meeting, referendum postponed

Preston — The Board of Selectmen on Thursday will need to set new dates for the annual budget town meeting and referendum, after a legal notice for the previously approved dates was not published on time.

The board plans to set the annual budget town meeting for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 30, at the Preston Plains Middle School, a week later than originally planned. The budget referendum now is planned for June 11 and will be the first townwide election to be held at the Preston Plains Middle School, the new town polling place.

The Board of Finance has approved a total town government budget of $3,921,680 and a school budget totaling $12,111,999.
