Groton — Groton Town Police announced a traffic alert in the Noank area between 9:15 and 11:30 a.m. Saturday due to the Tour de Noank 5K.

The Fun Run begins at 9:15 a.m. and the race is set to begin at 10 a.m. from Esker Point Beach. Runners will go through the village of Noank and then up Elm Street to Brook Street, according to the news release.

Police said they anticipate moderate traffic congestion in the Noank area prior to, during and immediately after the event.

"We urge anyone traveling in this area to use caution and drive safely," police emphasized.

Police said vehicle traffic in Noank Village and the following roads may experience short delays:

• Groton Long Point Road: from Brook Street to Esker Point Beach

• Brook Street: between Groton Long Point Road and Elm Street

• Elm Street: between Groton Long Point Road and Brook Street

• Marsh Road: from Groton Long Point to Terrace Avenue

Police said they expect that all roads will be free of event-related congestion by noon.

"Thank you for your cooperation," police added.
