    New London history aboard the Thames River water taxi

    New London — Connecticut Landmarks is offering the public a cruise on the Thames River in search of history.

    At 1:30 p.m. July 20, staff from the Hempsted Houses in New London will welcome the public to Fort Trumbull as part of a tour exploring the city's history near the river. Visitors will board the Thames River Water Taxi and take a 60-minute tour that will highlight areas related to Hempsted family history, including the sites of colonial ferries, an early Mamacoke settlement and native fishing grounds.

    The boat tour will continue from 2 to 3 p.m. Admission is $30, or $25 for Connecticut Landmarks & Thames River Heritage Park members. Registration is required as space is limited.
