Hearing to be held Tuesday on TIF District for downtown Groton

Groton — A public hearing will be held Tuesday, July 2, on a proposed Tax Increment Financing district and master plan for the downtown Groton area. The hearing will take place at 6:30 p.m. in Community Room 1, Town Hall Annex, 134 Groton Long Point Road.

According to the public notice, the proposed TIF district for the downtown area encompasses about 145 acres "located along both sides of Poquonnock Road and Long Hill Road (U.S. Route 1) from Buddington Road west to Sunnyside Park. It is bounded on the south by the Amtrak rail line, and the north boundary generally follows the Downtown Development District (DDD) and Office Multiple Family (OMF) zone lines."

The boundaries are outlined in the proposed "Downtown Groton Tax Increment Financing District Master Plan."

The proposed resolution and master plan are available at the Town Clerk's Office in the Town Hall, the Office of Planning and Development Services at the Town Hall Annex, and on the town's website: www.groton-ct.gov.
