Lamont issues reminder: 'If you see something, say something'

With the upcoming holiday, Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont's office has issued a reminder for people "to be aware of their surroundings and if they see something suspicious, say something by contacting authorities."

“We want everyone to have fun and enjoy the upcoming holiday, but keeping citizens safe is our number one priority,” Lamont said in a statement. “The public is an important partner in our efforts to protect our homeland security. As always, we encourage everyone to be aware of your surroundings, recognize when something looks out of place, and notify law enforcement authorities immediately if you witness any suspicious activity.”

The governor's office said Connecticut’s Homeland Security Tip Line can be reached by phone at 1 (866) 457-8477, by email at ctic@ct.gov, and online at www.ct.gov/demhs/sar. Additionally, the state's homeland security app — "CT SAFE" — is available in the Apple App store and Google Play store.

"If immediate attention is necessary, people should call 9-1-1 and inform the operator about what they saw and what struck them as concerning," the release states.
