New London Green Party fields council, school board candidates

New London — The New London Green Party on Tuesday endorsed candidates for City Council and Board of Education.

Green Party Chairwoman Ronna Stuller is running for a spot on the council and Sharmaine Gregor for school board.

Stuller, co-founder of the Riverside Park Conservancy, served on the school board from 2009 to 2011, is a sitting member of the Planning and Zoning Commission and made an unsuccessful run at a state representative seat in 2016.

Gregor is the vice president of the Southeastern Connecticut Land Trust, a community gardener at FRESH New London and an associate with Partners in a Caring Community.

The Greens previously have endorsed activist Frida Berrigan, also a community gardener with FRESH New London, for mayor.

The party plans an official campaign launch at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at its headquarters, 165 State St.
