High Hopes Therapeutic Riding is gearing up to welcome more than 3,000 visitors to its Old Lyme farm for the ninth annual Holiday Market from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 17.

Entry is free with the donation of a nonperishable food item.

The market will feature dozens of vendors together with food trucks, kids’ activities, authors’ corner, a tasting tent and a barn full of holiday decor.

“Fabulous artisans come to the market from all over Connecticut, and well beyond, to share their wares,” Trudy Burgess, High Hopes’ events manager, said in a release.

Handmade silver jewelry, up-cycled clothing, woolly socks, silk scarves, goat soap and local honey wil be among the offerings. Babies’ gifts and coffee table books are on sale, while cheesemakers and cake bakers will be on site.

For the past few years, High Hopes’ Holiday Market has been the biggest single-day collection point for the Shoreline Soup Kitchen and Pantries, last year collecting more than 3,000 pounds of food.

Lyme resident and celebrity chef Jacques Pépin will be on hand to sign copies of his books alongside others in the Author’s Corner, including Caryn Davis, Beatriz Williams and David Handler.

Students from The Williams School will entertain with crafts, games and face-painting, while the food court will offer gourmet cheeses, chowders and other favorites, including beers and wines.

“Take time to walk the beautiful ‘runway’ and meet our herd of therapy horses,” Kitty Stalsburg, executive director at High Hopes, said in a release.

Giveaways include a new 2019 Subaru Forester and a six-day Panama vacation.

Tasting-tent tickets are $30 in advance and $40 on market day. For information, visit highhopestr.org.
