    Make a Difference: Mother's Retreat in Groton

    WHO: Chelsea, a 30-year-old woman

    AGENCY: Mother's Retreat, a Groton-based treatment program run by The Connection, helps pregnant and parenting women in recovery.

    FAMILY SITUATION: Chelsea is a single mother of a 15-year-old daughter, and in February is expecting a baby girl, whose father recently died. Chelsea is unemployed and living in a residential program. She is applying for housing and her goal is to provide stability and support for her family through the recent loss of a father and partner.

    WHAT TO GIVE: Chelsea’s 15-year-old daughter could use feminine hygiene products, lotions, body wash, etc. She loves succulents, gardening and animals. Chelsea’s soon-to-be daughter could use a pack-and-play with a changing pad and bassinet attached. She also needs a stroller, diapers, wipes, bathing tub and soaps, infant to 3-month clothing, and anything else related to having a baby. Chealsea herself could use winter boots size 8.5, and any weather-appropriate tops, such as sweaters, size XL. The family also could use grocery store gift cards and gift cards to local community stores, such as Walmart, Goodwill, TJMaxx.
