    Lyme Art Association brings together beginner and seasoned artists

    Old Lyme — As budding artists from the region were working on new pieces in a class at the Lyme Art Association on Tuesday, staff members were hanging artwork by new members.

    Gallery assistant Ruthie Viele was hanging paintings for the First Impressions show, which will feature work by associate and newly elected artists of the association. It opens Friday, Jan. 17, and awards will be presented during a reception Sunday, Jan. 26.

    Meanwhile, students, including Gerald LaGrange of Old Lyme and Judy Peritz of Old Saybrook, were working on pieces during the Oil Painting for Beginners class with instructor Jacqueline Jones.
