Local teens place in Hartford music competition
Elizabeth Jantzi of Ledyard and En-Hua Holtz of East Lyme were among the winners in the Musical Club of Hartford's annual High School Performance Competitions.
The competition is held annually for Connecticut musicians in grades 9-12, and first-, second- and third-place winners in the strings, voice, piano and winds competitions received cash scholarships. All winners performed in a concert on Jan. 19 at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in West Hartford.
Jantzi, a senior at Ledyard High School, placed first in the voice competition, performing "The Piper" by John Duke and Mozart's "Das Veilchen." Holtz, a senior at East Lyme High School, placed third in the piano competition, performing Bach's "French Suite No. 2 in C Minor."
