Remembering the Four Chaplains

The ceremony honors the actions of four Army chaplains who were abroad the transport ship Dorchester when it was torpedoed and sunk by a German submarine on Feb. 3, 1943. The annual ceremony honors the four chaplains, each of a different denomination, who gave up their life preservers and were seen coming together in prayer as the ship sank beneath the surface.
