    Ledyard grand list up 0.47%

Ledyard — The town's net grand list grew slightly in 2019, rising by a total of 0.47%.

The current net grand list is $1,116,461,947, up just more than $5 million from 2018. Net taxable personal property increased by $1,756,047, and net taxable motor vehicles grew by $5,187,102. Net taxable real estate decreased by $1,703,205.

Tax assessor Adrianna Hedwall said that while construction in town was steady, about 500 acres of land was reclassified as forest land under Public Act 490, which allows farm, forest and open space properties to be assessed at their use value rather than their market value.
