Norwich City Hall to close Tuesday

Norwich – City Hall will be closed to the public beginning Tuesday with the closure lasting "until instructed otherwise,” according to the city manager’s office.

The city clerk’s office will be open by appointment only by calling (860) 823-3735.

City departments and staff will be available by phone and officials encourage online, mail and phone payments when applicable. Call specific departments for more information.

The city will limit public meetings to those necessary for the operation of mandated services by law. The public may watch City Council meetings on the community access channel on Comcast Cable TV.

Many Norwich regular meetings will become virtual meetings.

“We understand the inconvenience this may cause, however we feel this is the safest choice to keep our community and employees safe during this time,” City Manager John Salomone said in the press release announcing City Hall closures. “We will continue monitoring state recommendations and our local health department and post updates on the City’s Website and Facebook.”

Go to the city website, www.norwichct.org or Facebook page at www.norwichct.org/Facebook for updates.
