    Some New London parks to close to accommodate summer rec programs

    New London — The parks and outdoor spaces of Bates Woods Park, Nathan Hale Magnet School and Harbor School will be closed to the public at certain times over the next month to accommodate the City of New London Recreation’s Summer Playground programs.

    The programs run on weekdays from June 23 through Aug. 14, excluding July 3, during the following times:

    [naviga:li]Bates Woods Park (all fields, pavilions, parking lot, playground, etc.) are closed to the public from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.[/naviga:li]

    [naviga:li]Harbor Elementary School (all fields, playground, parking lot, etc.) closed to the public from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.[/naviga:li]

    [naviga:li]and Nathan Hale Magnet School (all fields, playground, ball courts, etc.) closed to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.[/naviga:li]

    With state guidelines and restrictions on group size and cleaning procedures, the closures are aimed at keeping children safe at camp. If there are any questions, please contact New London Recreation at (860) 447-5230.

    The New London Recreation Department encourages the public to use the other playgrounds, fields and courts, which are open during these times. The following parks will be open to the public: Mahan Park, Toby May Park, Fulton Park, Bartlett Courts, Riverside Park, Caulkins and Green Harbor.
