Groton Town Clerk announces changes to walk-in hours

Groton — Groton Town Clerk Betsy Moukawsher announced varied office hours for walk-in business until further notice.

"Due to the unprecedented saturation of requests for absentee ballots for the November 3, 2020 General Election, we will only accept walk-in business after 1 p.m. in the Vital Record Office," she said in the announcement.

People are asked to call (860) 441-6640 and leave a message for an appointment for marriage licenses; their call will be returned as soon as possible, according to the announcement.

People can call (860) 441-6642 for land record appointments.

They should visit the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection's website for hunting and fishing licenses. Shellfish licenses are available at the Groton Town Police Station and Ken’s Bait & Tackle Shop on Thames Street.

"We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause," the notice states.
