    Groton — A groundskeeper at Shennecossett Golf Course in Groton was waiting for the irrigation sprinklers to shut down Thursday before mowing the area around the 16th green.

    On Monday, state agencies announced that New London County is the fifth county in Connecticut to experience Stage 2 drought conditions that have the potential to affect water supplies, agriculture and natural ecosystems.
