Groton — Kayakers paddle down the Poquonock River on Wednesday off shore from Bluff Point State Park in Groton.

The weather was sunny but breezy Wednesday, and Thursday was expected to be similar — breezy with sunny skies and highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s in southeastern Connecticut.

Friday, on the other hand, is expected to bring heavy rain to the region.
