Positive COVID-19 case reported at Groton Middle School

Groton — The Groton school district reported Wednesday a positive COVID-19 case at Groton Middle School, and the middle school will switch to distance learning on Thursday to allow time for contact tracing.

In a notification, superintendent Michael Graner wrote that the person has been told to isolate at home.

He said no in-person classes will be held on Thursday, which is a planned early dismissal day due to parent conferences: “The middle school will follow the early dismissal schedule as planned, and the school will still hold the parent conferences."

“We are taking these measures to safeguard the health of our students and staff,” Graner wrote. “Having no in-person classes at Groton Middle School for one day will provide time to complete the contact tracing protocol.”

He added that the district is working with Ledge Light on contact tracing and he will inform people Thursday if additional time is needed for contact tracing.
