COVID-19 cases force New London schools to revert to distance learning this week

New London -- Superintendent of Schools Cynthia Ritchie has informed families that city schools will be closed to all in-person student learning this coming week because more time is needed to conduct tracing efforts related to two positive COVID-19 cases identified on Thursday. Nine cases in total were reported last week in the school district.

Students will participate in full-time distance learning on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. There is no school on Wednesday due to Veterans Day.

All sports activities have been canceled for the week. Food distribution will be available throughout the week. On Monday, students in Cohort A & B may pick up meals from their individual schools between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. and on Thursday distance learners and students in Cohort B may pick up meals from their individual schools between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. The amount of food provided on these days will be enough for the duration of the school closure.
