Employees from Mystic Shipyard raised the annual Christmas Tree in the Mystic River Park on Cottrell Street on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020.

With coronavirus precautions cancelling the tree lighting and lighted boat parade events the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce decided to go ahead with the lighted tree display, according to a release.

Jeff Marshall, owner of Mystic Shipyard, has led the effort for the last 22 years to find the tree and raise it at the park. "The hardest part is finding the tree," said Marshall.

This year's tree came from a donor in North Stonington.

The chamber has a number of safe holiday events planned for the next four weeks, including "Santa sightings," a Santa's mailbox, and a luminaria display.
