Casinos report December slots revenues down
Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun on Friday posted another month of shrunken slot-machine revenues amid the pandemic.
Foxwoods reported it “won,” or kept, $21.5 million after paying out prizes in December, a 36.1% decline from the $33.6 million it kept during the same month the previous year. Mohegan Sun kept $32.2 million in December slots revenue, down 26.6% from $43.9 million a year ago.
Both casinos have been operating at no more than 25% percent of capacity since the resurgence of the coronavirus disease. Foxwoods operated about 1,875 machines in December, about 400 fewer than in November. Mohegan Sun operated nearly 2,600 machines, about the same number as in previous months.
Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, which contribute 25% of their slots revenues to the state, reported that they sent $6.1 million and $8.1 million, respectively, to Hartford.
