Ledyard's Tom Reynolds named to post at Manchester Community College

Ledyard — Former state Rep. Tom Reynolds of Ledyard has been named dean of institutional advancement at Manchester Community College.

The position calls for Reynolds to manage a program to advance the mission, vision, and short- and long-term goals of the college while working with MCC’s chief executive officer and other senior administrators. He will be responsible for developing and implementing a process for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and recognizing individuals, corporations, nonprofit foundations, and state and federal government departments to secure major gifts and endowment support.

In addition, Reynolds will have overall responsibility for alumni development and events management.

First elected to the Connecticut House of Representatives in 2004, Reynolds, a Democrat, served four two-year terms, representing the 42nd District, which includes Ledyard, Preston and part of Montville. He previously served on the Town Council and the Board of Education in Ledyard and was an aide to then-Democratic U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut.

Reynolds has served as director of institutional advancement at The Williams School, as associate director of development at Connecticut College, as associate secretary of the college at Connecticut College and as vice president of the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut.

He holds a doctoral degree in higher education administration from Northeastern University, a master of arts degree in public policy from Trinity College and a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from the University of New Haven.
