    Memories: Shetucket Street

    photo submitted

Shetucket Street (today Chelsea Harbor Drive) is pictured here in 1955 from Laurel Hill Avenue in Norwich. The massive structure with the Roman columns is the Frisbee Building. Frisbee Auto Sales was on the ground floor with the big doors. It later became the first location of Mallon Chevrolet. In the background is Jail Hill. The Art Deco building on the left is DAHL OIL. The trailer-truck in the center is Rapid Transit Company. On the right is the last of the iron truss Laurel Hill bridges. In the forefront you can see a few other Norwich businesses. Callahan Oil Company and Dawley Lumber.
