Broadway, looking from Union Square toward Shannon Corner in the 1960s. The building on the left, the Mullaney Building, was located at the corner of Bath Street and Broadway. The Bath Street side had five stories, the Broadway side had four stories. The Broadway side housed Hansen’s Flower Shop on the ground floor. The Bath Street side had Shea’s Newsstand run by the Cohen Brothers. There was also a package store. The Mullaney Building was razed in 1974. On the left side of Broadway was Shetucket Hardware, and The TOY Store, which today is Billy Wilson’s Pub. Further down the street is the Central Building, Dime Bank, Cranston’s Stationery, and the Wauregan Hotel. In the center is the Shannon Building.
