    Ocean Beach reading for ‘Quarantine Tail’

    On Monday, July 12, local and first-time author Aimee Wood will be holding a book reading, signing and raffle as a part of the Ocean Beach Car Show night. All the raffle proceeds will be donated to the New London Recreation Department to help support student scholarships.

    Wood’s new book is titled “The Day the Humans Stayed Home, A Quarantine Tail.” The book takes readers through a a day in the life of Homer, a stay-at-home dog. Suddenly, life as he knew it came to a halt, and he experiences many changes alongside his human companions. Books at the event will be $18.95 for hardcover, $12.95 for softcover.     Wood is a lifetime resident of New London and has worked in the education system for close to 20 years (Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School, Winthrop, Nathan Hale) as well as working for the New London Recreation Department for 18 years. Currently, she is a pre-kindergarten teacher at The Friendship School in Waterford.

    “My dream is to be able to help people see the positive that came from a hard situation and to be able to use the book to help support and give back to the community that raised me,” she said in a release.
