Connecticut Sales Tax Free Week begins Sunday

Connecticut's Sales Tax Free Week starts this Sunday and is running through Aug. 21.

Throughout the week, retail purchases of most clothing and shoes under $100 are exempted from the state's sales tax. A list of items exempt from taxation is available at ct.gov/drs.

"Having this tax-free holiday helps working families stretch their dollar a little bit more during the busy back-to-school season, while giving businesses an extra boost to their bottom line," Gov. Ned Lamont said in a news release. "I also encourage everyone taking advantage of this tax-free holiday to consider shopping at some of our locally-owned retailers and support Connecticut's small business community."

Crystal Mall in Waterford promoted the tax break in a news release earlier this past week and noted that multiple retailers also are offering special discounts and events, which can be viewed at simon.com/mall/crystal-mall/deals.
