Winners announced in NESS statewide drawing contest
Adam Coleman, a sixth-grader from Farmington, was named the overall winner of New England Science & Sailing Foundation’s statewide calendar drawing contest titled “Long Island Sound and Its Watershed: What It Means to Me.”
The annual drawing contest is open to all Connecticut students currently in grades K-6. The student’s artwork will be featured on the cover of the 2022 calendar.
A panel of judges chose two winners and two honorable mentions from each grade as this year’s award recipients. The students will be honored in a virtual ceremony this fall.
Local winners include: B.A. Ashburn (fifth grade, Montville); Alexis Hewitt (fourth grade, Montville); Kloe Scott (fourth grade, Montville); Skye Oduaran (fourth grade, Voluntown); Abrielle Daniels (third grade, Montville); Jason Wilcox (third grade, Preston); Madeline Muench (second grade, Preston); Kashton Kaczor (second grade, East Lyme); Avery Force (first grade, Montville); Ashley Hutchison (first grade, Preston); Benjamin Johnson (kindergarten, Montville); Lily Petrillo (kindergarten, East Lyme); and Mira Velasquez (kindergarten, Preston).
