Friends & Neighbors: Jay Bazinet strings for national tennis tournament

Jay Bazinet of Ledyard, Master Racquet Technician and owner of Shoreline Stringing, joined the Solinco stringing team stringing racquets at the Junior National Tournament in Kalamazoo, Mich., in August.

Bazinet and his teammates were stringing for the best junior tennis players in the country, including nationals winner Zachary Svajda, who went on to win his first-round match at the U.S. Open this year.

Bazinet has a long history of involvement in the southeastern Connecticut tennis scene, from coaching high school boys tennis to professionally teaching tennis at Lyme Shores Tennis & Fitness Center in East Lyme.

The stringing team was expected to string over 700 racquets during the course of the tournament.
