Stonington to begin revaluation process this fall

Stonington -- The town will begin the revaluation of all properties in town this fall.

The town has again hired Vision Government Solutions, which has conducted previous revaluations here, to complete the residential revaluation and Lawrence Revaluation Services to conduct the commercial revaluation work.

The reassessment will establish each property's market value as of Oct. 1, 2022, and be reflected in the tax bills issued in July 2023. Notices of the new valuations will be mailed to property owners in the fall of 2022. Residents can also meet with revaluation staff to review the new proposed assessments and can also appeal the assessments.

The project will begin this fall with data mailers being sent each property owners to review and return. Data collectors will be inspecting properties with building permits or properties that have sold recently. Data collectors will carry a letter of identification from the Assessor’s Office, a photo ID badge, and have their cars registered with the police department. Property owners can contact the Department of Assessment at (860) 535-5098 for further confirmation of the data collectors.

The town asks all property owners and tenants are requested to cooperate with data collectors to ensure that accurate information is used in the revaluation process. Updates on the revaluation process will be posted through the year at www.stonington-ct.gov
