New London Library opens teen activity room
New London — The Public Library of New London on Friday held a ribbon cutting for a new teen activity room on the lower level of the 63 Huntington St. library.
Library Executive Director Madhu Gupta said the room, which was previously a meeting room, will accommodate a plethora of activities, afterschool programs and events that include webinars, cooking classes and adulting classes. It also offers a space where teens will no longer get shushed by library patrons. The room contains a kitchen, computers, and a makerspace area with 3D printer.
The room will be open weekdays from 2 p.m. to closing with special hours on weekends.
The renovations were made possible through work of the Library of New London Board of Trustees and Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut.
