Varnishing the masts
New London — Crew member Molly Lapointe works on varnishing the mast of the schooner Columbia as it is docked at City Pier on Monday, Oct. 25, 2021.
Columbia is a steel-hulled replica of the original Gloucester fishing schooner of the same name, which went down in heavy seas in 1927. The schooner is docked in New London until it travels to Antigua for the winter in early November.
