Norwich Baha'i community invites public to celebration of the Birth of the Bab and Baha'u'llah

Norwich — The Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Norwich invites the public to an outdoor celebration of the Birth of the Bab and Baha'u'llah at the Howard T. Brown Memorial Park Gazebo, 100 Chelsea Harbor Drive, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6.

The event will include a presentation at the gazebo and a gathering for prayer with interfaith families at the Norwich peace poles, according to a news release. Safety protocols, such as social distancing and masks, are recommended.

A virtual gathering for the Birth of Bahá’u’lláh also will be hosted on Zoom at 7 p.m. Nov. 6. The Zoom link is available at bit.ly/nrbahai. The meeting ID is 949 344 8040, and the passcode: unity.

Celebrations also will be held in homes and other neighborhood settings on Nov. 6 and 7.

Bahá’ís around the world celebrate the Twin Birthdays of The Báb and Bahá’u’lláh, the divine messengers of the Bahá’í Faith, gathering to pray, read the Holy Writings, sing, dance and celebrate on two successive days each year.

"Founded in 1844, the Bahá’í Faith is the world’s newest independent global belief system, teaching the oneness of God, the unity of humanity, and the essential harmony of religion," the release states. "The Baha’i teachings promote the agreement of science and religion, gender equality, and the elimination of all prejudice and racism. With no clergy, the Bahá’í Faith believes each person has the capacity to find their own spiritual truth, and walk a path of service with the help of the Bahá’í Writings and institutions."

"Baha’is accept the validity of each of the founders and prophets of the major world religions and believe in progressive revelation," the release continues. "This unique Baha’i principle views every great Faith as a link in a single, spiritual system, progressively revealed by God to humanity."
