New London — It's beginning to look a little like Christmas in downtown.

City Center District employees Wilson Bynum and Chad Burgess started attaching the faux pine wreaths to the decorative street lights on State Street this past weekend. Bynum, who started working for the district earlier this year, said he had about half of the more than 50 wreaths up by Tuesday morning.

"For my first time, it's going pretty well," he said of the installations. "It's a nice day for it," he added.

The giant Christmas tree on the Parade Plaza green will go up before Thanksgiving, in time for the city's tree-lighting festivities scheduled for Nov. 26.
