Mobile food pantry scheduled for Friday in Groton

Groton — The Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center will host a free, drive-thru mobile pantry from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 17, at St. John's Christian Church, 346 Shennecossett Road.

The site also is accessible for walk-up visitors, according to a news release. "The goal is to serve 300 families facing hunger in our community. Food boxes will include fresh fruits and vegetables, proteins, and breakfast items with snacks and other non-perishables."

"Anyone in need of food is welcome to attend and no paperwork is necessary," the release states. "Guests are asked to remain in their car and open their trunk where volunteers can place the food boxes. Everyone must wear a mask and practice all COVID-19 safety protocols."

Charter Oak Federal Credit Union is sponsoring this distribution.
