Closures and event cancellations ahead of the expected winter storm

New London County could see more snow than any area of the state on Friday, according to Western Connecticut State University meteorologist Garry Lessor.

Snow will begin to develop in the region after midnight and continue until about noon Friday, he said. The snow will be heavy at times for awhile on Friday morning.

Friday will be breezy with highs in the mid-30s.

“We’re up to 4 to 8 inches for snow now,” Lessor said Thursday evening. “New London County could end up with the most snow in the state. It definitely looks like eastern areas have the best chance for the heaviest snow.”

He said Saturday will be sunny with highs in the low 30s.
