Stonington -- First a puzzle and now a Christmas tree ornament.

The Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce has announced it has begun taking orders for a glass Christmas tree ornament that depicts the popular lobster trap tree at the Town Dock.

Chamber President Lisa Konicki said that after receiving many requests for replica ornaments of the tree, the chamber decided to commission Joy to the World Collectibles to make the three-dimensional, hand-painted ornament in the traditional style seen in Poland.

Konicki said the chamber needs to receive 504 orders by Feb. 18 to have them made. The chamber plans to share photos of production progress. The 5-1/2 inch-tall ornaments, that cost $52 each, will arrive in late August. As of Sunday, she said 188 have been sold.

With the chamber recently selling 1,800 puzzles depicting the tree in nine days, Konicki said there is a strong interest in novelties that celebrate the tree.
