    USS San Juan drops in to Navy base

    The U.S. Navy Los Angeles-class attack submarine USS San Juan (SSN 751) transited up the Thames River on Friday, inbound to the Naval Submarine Base in Groton.

    The San Juan was launched in 1986 and is only the second U.S. Navy vessel to be named for the capital of Puerto Rico. It was the first vessel in the Flight III, or 688i (for improved) design of the Los Angeles class.
