New London — After attending an Earth Day celebration picking up trash in the area of downtown New London on Friday, Allison Gauvin and her daughter, Julia, 13, decided to clean up their neighborhood that has a lot of trash along sections of Ocean and Willetts avenues.

During the Earth Day celebration, hosted by the Public Library of New London, people were given gloves and bags to walk around downtown to pick up trash.

Also during the event, the group New London Trees offered seed planting for children and teens.
