Grasso Tech's Students for Recovery to hold Recovery Fest in Groton

Groton — Ella T. Grasso Technical High School's Students for Recovery, a club that is working to reduce the stigma of those struggling with substance abuse and addiction while offering support and acceptance throughout the community, will hold a community event called Recovery Fest on Friday.

"Are you or someone you know exploring recovery? Join us," said a notice for the event, which will be held Friday, May 13, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Poquonnock Plains Park, 150 Fort Hill Road in Groton. Attendees are invited "to discover the various pathways towards sobriety and the many resources New London County has to offer," the notice states.

"Meet representatives from organizations and agencies that support healing, offer hope, and empower those navigating addiction and recovery," such as Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery, Community Speaks Out and Groton Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention, the notice continues. "Throughout the afternoon enjoy music, food, poetry, storytelling, and fellowship. Narcan will be available on site alongside training in this lifesaving intervention. Become an ally for those affected by this illness. All are welcome!"
