Rebecca Lindner, the caretaker and docent at the Nathan Lester House and Farm Tool Museum in Gales Ferry, lives on the property with her husband Corey Watford and her three sons, Declan Lindner, 10, Liam Lindner, 8, and Mark Nathan Watford, 2.

Lindner said they started raising the Nigerian Dwarf goats a year ago when they were having trouble getting the prescription non-milk formula for Mark Nathan who was allergic to cow milk. By switching to goat milk, Mark Nathan was able to adjust to the lactose in raw goat milk and now is able to drink cow milk.

Lindner uses the goat milk to make cheese and goat milk soap and uses herbs from the formal gardens that are maintained by the Ledyard Garden Club.
