Let's Go: A conversation with Nathaniel Philbrick
Literacy Volunteers of Washington County will present Nathaniel Philbrick, noted historian and novelist, in conversation with fellow historian Ted Widmer, at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 3.
This event, part of the Joyce S. Ahern Summer Speaker Series, will be held at the United Theatre, 5 Canal St., Westerly. The presentation will be focused on Philbrick’s latest book, “Travels with George: In Search of Washington and His Legacy,” which will be released in paperback on May 31.
In the book, Philbrick retraces George Washington’s journey as a new president through all 13 former colonies.
Philbrick is the author of “In the Heart of the Sea,” winner of the National Book Award; “Mayflower,” finalist for the Pulitzer Prize; “Valiant Ambition,” winner of the George Washington Prize; “In the Hurricane’s Eye” and other books of historical fiction.
Literacy Volunteers of Washington County is a nonprofit that helps adult students improve their English language skills.
