Groton — Home-schoolers spent a few hours Tuesday using nets to catch aquatic species to look at before returning the catch to the water at Bluff Point State Park, during the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center Homeschool Environmental Afternoons program.

Another group of students took a hike to explore the park and then midway through their time there, the groups switched places.

Each month the students, ages 5-13, split into three age groups, had a different subject that they studied, such as insects, mammals, weather and survival skills.

Tuesday was the last day of the program for the school year that ran on Tuesdays from September into June.
