    Presentation on the history of the Stonington COMO slated for June 16

    Stonington — The Stonington Community Center and the Stonington Historical Society will hold an open house and free presentation on the history of the community center on Thursday, June 16, at 5:30 p.m. at the center, 28 Cutler St.

    David Erskine, former police chief and local historian, will discuss the history of the center, better known as the COMO, from its opening in 1945 through the 1970s. He will discuss the origins of the COMO, its activities and clubs, key figures in its history and what childhood was like at the COMO in the post-World War II era.

    An open house at 5:30 p.m. will precede the presentation, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. The presentation also will be livestreamed on the Stonington Historical Society’s Facebook page, facebook.com/stoningtonhistoricalsociety.
