Pride vigil to take place Tuesday at New London City Hall

New London — OutCT, in conjunction with New London community members, will hold a Pride vigil at 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 181 State St.

The “Everyone Deserves Pride” event will feature speakers, music and a flower vigil to memorialize the lives of Black and brown transgender people who have lost their lives as a result of violence against the transgender and nonbinary population. Transgender people, especially those of color, suffer the highest rates of violence among the LGBTQIA+ community.

Speakers will include Mayor Michael Passero, OutCT board members and City Council members.

OutCT’s interim president, Chevelle Moss-Savage, coordinated the vigil, which will take place on the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.

This event is free and open to the public.
