Lyme announces road, facilities closures for July 4th

Lyme — The town's traditional Cove Road July 4th Parade, which will feature Parker Lord as the grand marshal, is slated to begin 10 a.m. Monday, July 4, near Camp Claire on Cove Road and end at the Lyme Grange.

“The Town advises its residents that temporary street closings will be in effect during the parade, travel delays are possible and parking may be limited in some areas,” according to a news release.

Route 156 will be closed from about 10 to 10:15 a.m. between Sterling City Road North and South with a detour along Sterling City Road, the release said.

Lord, the grand marshal, served on the Board of Selectmen for more than two decades before retiring last year. He is currently the chairman of the Open Space Commission.

Lyme Town Hall, the Lyme Public Library, the Transfer Station and Hamburg Recycling Center will be closed Monday in observance of the holiday.
