Preston/Jewett City All-Star team finishes third in state

The Preston/Jewett City girls’ Little League team wound up third in the state.

Preston/Jewett City’s girls Little League team won districts against South Windsor, 9-5.

The win in the District 4 Sectionals moved them onto states, where PJC made history with the first game against East Haddam/Guilford, a 4-2 victory. It’s the farthest PJC has ever made it in states.

The team next played Milford in the winners bracket, losing 7-2. Milford went on to win the state title July 16 against Wallingford for the second year in a row.

JCP lost to Wallingford 6-5, finishing third in the state. “Quite an accomplishment when you compare PJC to the size of the towns we played,” noted one family member.

PJC played hard and played as a team. Coaches Alan Muench, William Trask and Chris Ninteau have been coaching these girls since they were 5, making the victory so much sweeter as this is the last year these girls can play Little League. Most of the team will be going into eighth grade.
