Foxwoods to open a Wahlburgers restaurant next summer

Mashantucket ― Foxwoods Resort Casino announced it will open a Wahlburgers restaurant and bar next summer in space now occupied by Fuddruckers, another chain outlet set to close next month.

Construction of the new Wahlburgers location will begin in October, Foxwoods said in a news release.

Founded by brothers Mark and Donnie Wahlberg, actors and musicians, and a third brother, chef Paul Wahlberg, the Wahlburgers franchise has 90 locations across the country, none of them in Connecticut. It’s closest locations are the six restaurants it operates in the Wahlbergs’ native Massachusetts, including one at the MGM Springfield casino.

“The addition of Wahlburgers signifies yet another exceptional property moment as we continue our mission to elevate the Foxwoods experience,” Jason Guyot, Foxwoods’ president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. “Like Foxwoods, Wahlburgers is a family-owned business that has ties to the local community and offers a premium guest experience. We look forward to a very successful partnership.”

Since February, Foxwoods has been issuing monthly announcements about the launching of new businesses while celebrating the casino’s 30th year of operation.

“Wahlburgers,” a reality television series that aired on A&E from 2014 to 2019, featured the namesake restaurant chain. The restaurants are decorated with family memorabilia celebrating the Wahlbergs’ early days growing up in their native Dorchester, outside Boston. They since have become well-recognized celebrities.
