    New teachers tour New London

Donna Vendetto, dressed in all her New London gear, welcomes new teachers to the New London Public Schools as the bus carrying them pauses outside her home Friday, Aug. 26, 2022, while touring the city after an orientation session. She told the teachers that the kids and teaching in New London is special. Vendetto retired in 2004 after a 32-year-long career as a special education teacher and administrator in the city school system. Val Tamano, president of the New London Education Foundation, took the approximately 100 new teachers on a tour of New London to show them historical sites, Ocean Beach Park and other locations of interest, so those not familiar with the area could see what the city has to offer. Local businesses provided coupons to their establishments that were given to the teachers. (Dana Jensen/The Day)
