    Veterans Stand Down service event to be held Sept. 23

    The state Department of Veterans Affairs Stand Down 2022 event for veterans and service members will be held Friday, Sept. 23 at five locations across the state, including the Veterans Rally Point in Norwich.

    Stand Down 2022, which is open to all veterans and service members, including active duty, National Guard and reserve personnel. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Easter Seals, 24 Stott Ave., Norwich.

    The event provides attendees access to services such as housing opportunities, legal assistance, employment programs, medical screenings, education programs personal need items, vaccinations, and meals. The programs are provided by the state and federal departments of veterans affairs, many other state and federal agencies, and community providers.

    “The DVA team continues its commitment to excellence in its mission of serving those who served,” Commissioner Thomas J. Saadi, who also serves as a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, said in a news release.
